Help RT Buy A Video Camera!
We’ve been hard at work on RT for over 2 years now! It’s hard to believe sometimes that we’re still here– 2 years is an eternity in blog time.
We’ve written over 5000 articles, and fielded nearly 17000 comments. We’ve broken news stories, done in-depth analysis, conducted exclusive interviews, and championed local progressive issues and candidates.
Nearly 1000 unique people read our site each day, which isn’t bad for a bunch of hacks writing a local progressive blog in their spare time.
We work this hard, not for fame (we prefer anonymity), or money (still waiting for that mythical check from George Soros 
). What small amount we get from advertising goes to offset hosting costs, but at this point we’ve invested way more into RT than we’ve gotten out of it, money-wise.
If you’ve gotten something out of RT, here’s your chance to pay it forward. We’d like to invest in a digital video camera, so we don’t have to beg, borrow, or steal one as we’ve done in the past. We’ve been getting by with digital cameras taking video but they aren’t the right tool for job. A real zoom function wold be nice among other things.
We’re estimating the cost of a camera at around $500, including the accessories we’d need. So if you’d like to help out with a couple dollars, please contribute! If we manage to meet that goal, any extra will help defray the cost of our team members heading to Netroots Nation on July 17th. (They’re going there, at a cost of about $1000/person, to become better bloggers and provide you readers with even more quality articles on RT. That’s how much they care about y’all. :-))
Thanks for all your support over these last 2 years, and thanks for your help in taking RT to the next level. We’re thinking of ways to improve all the time, and with your help, we can grow RT even faster.
