DCCC ad buys

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has reserved $35 million in tv time for Congressional races. According to the article, that includes one seat in New York, which presumably is NY-13, based on earlier reports.

That means that no ad time has been reserved in NY-25, NY-26, or NY-29….yet.

Update: You can see the full list of ad buys here.

I see the DCCC has re-charged the Fail-o-Tron with tears of bitter virgins and they’re tanned, rested and ready to cower through this cycle.

Why is this so bad?

It sends a signal to fundraisers, donors and pundits about the races where they think some extra money will make a difference. Leaking, or letting out, this list in July, which is 2-3 months before the ad buys will occur, damages any Democrat in a tight race who isn’t on that list.

The buys can be adjusted later. This could be a “head fake” as Mark Halperin likes to say. ;)
