When the Philosophy is wrong, Does it matter who “the man” is?

This is the first in a series of video interviews for the Bush Legacy Bus tour going up today to complement the coverage we have already provided.

If you read some of coverage announcing the arrival of the Bush Legacy Bus Tour - the terms used were anti-Bush. For example Ganett Albany Correspondent Joe Spector termed the visit to Fairport“The anti-Bush movement comes to Fairport” and AGAIN when the bus stopped in Albany “The anti-Bush movement made its way to the steps of the state Capitol today”

News10NBC went so far as to say “A bus of anti-Bush administration protesters arrived in Rochester”. WETM Channel 18 in Elmira (sorry the link is gone) opened a story with “An anti-Bush bus made a stop in Rochester Tuesday afternoon”.

Meet Julie Blust. Tour Director of the Bush Legacy Bus.

I asked Julie about people using the term Anti-Bush and how she reaches out and educates people on the President’s legacy.

This is what she has to say. (apologies for the video quality.)

Did you catch how she focused on the philosophy, specifically the conservative philosophy of governance? It isn’t the person, it is the philosophy. 8 years of a conservative philosophy and this is what it has to show.

Damn Julie - you simply rock.

Frankly, I think Bush’s record, this body of evidence, speaks for itself. In fact, I look forward to what the news media would call a “pro-Bush” bus arriving in Rochester someday.

My personal opinion - the positive things done by this administration into …. Well what type of vehicle would be used to house the positives of the Bush Legacy?

I can’t get the video on the computer I’m on now, so I don’t know if the following was addressed in it. This is a great post. I think we often fail to see how progressive ideas and those that ascribe to them are framed by media and Republicans. We’re framed as anti-something. And that is used to create support for those that are seemingly “pro.” Anti-government, anti-Bush, anti-war. What about pro-democracy, pro-lawfulness, pro-peace? I think this way of conceptualizing progressives has been deliberate, and has been something we’ve accepted for a very long time without recognizing it.
