MCC Interim President Minarik?
We’ve heard from two independent sources this evening that Steve Minarik’s abrupt resignation is because he is to be named as interim president of MCC. The timing certainly fits– a surprise resignation late in the day Friday, and what’s happening first thing Monday?
MCC Board of Trustees Special Meeting
9:00 a.m., Monday, June 30th in Monroe AIt is expected that an interim president will be appointed at this meeting.
Nicely timed. There’s almost no time for media or concerned citizens to pick up on this and protest it.
And why does the GOP want a “friendly” in this position so bad? Here’s a hint:
The speculation is that that “they’ want Smith in at MCC to get access to the college’s large surplus dollars in order to fund Ren Square.
Ren Square, mismanaged county budget gaps, you name it. MCC is just another revenue stream to hijack and pillage.
This? Even after the county budget mess, the FAIR plan debacle, the police state PD selection process, and the already horribly politicized MCC president selection? I just don’t understand how they think they can get away with this.
It’s just not right. It’s 20 kinds of “not right”. What is it going to take for everyday people in this county to see through the smooth PR and get rid of these folks come election day? Or at least for the local news to stop giving them a pass and endorsements?
And what can we do to stop this, now?

In a sane world, I would say there is no way this could happen. As it is, I’m not sure.
so wrong — on SO many levels!!
MCC employees were told that the interim president comes recommended by SUNY. He or she is from out of state and has experience leading a community college. Thankfully this description doesn’t fit Minarik. The BOT could pull a fast one of course and install Minark anyway.

( post title seems amazingly familiar )
That would be a relief (though I’m still suspicious). Who did MCC employees hear this from, the board?
Heh. Dec of ‘07? Your crystal ball is impressive.
Is this serious?
The MCC board couldn’t get Smith appointed and in the space of 4 days (Friday to Monday) Minarik get appointed?
Independent of MInariK here - nice summary of some of the results of Minarik’s divisiveness.
It seems hard to believe….but so does everything that actually did happen the past year with county gov.
He sounded genuinely bitter, pissed and unrepentant in the short clip I heard on WXXI, not like a guy who just pulled off a clever trick. So put me in the doubter’s camp.
[...] But, what I found most encouraging was this comment: This is just a ruse or should I say just one more by Maggie and Steve. There is one difference and one difference only between Maggie Brooks and Steve Minarik. Steve is not a phony, he may be a jerk at times, but he is clearly not a phony. Maggie, on the other hand is nothing more than an actress in a bad play. She is the “nice and sweet” county exec who now after all these years is trying to “show” leadership-not be a leader. Minarik never forced Maggie to give all of her family members jobs in county government, starting with her husband’s position at the Water Authority. Try checking his attendance records at MCC and the Water Authority. Sorry Maggie and Steve, the public won’t buy this one. Minarik knows where all the skeletons are with Maggie and other GOP officials, and they will never “oust” him. This is about improving poll numbers and winning electtions. Steve may move his house, but he’s still in the neighborhood! http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/6495/maggierightsizedoh8.gif As usual, Maggie, you have “misunderestimated” your public. [...]
Great! Now we have to worry about Minarik becoming President of MCC. I’ll bet he’s so unpopular that would never fly…
[...] the question everyone seems to be asking about Steve Minarik’s departure from the MCC. Some are saying he may be named interim president of MCC, others are saying he’s really being stripped of all [...]
