ER: Village Leadership Change
Back at the beginning of the year, we had a number of articles about the problems that new Mayor Jason Koon (D) had while trying to change some of the old guard in the village. The village had been GOP-run for years, has the highest tax rate in the county, and the what appears to be the greatest amount of cronyism.
If I were mayor, cleaning house would be one of my first priorities. As Koon found out, though, you’ll pry those crony-filled patronage positions from their cold, dead hands before they give them up, so there was soap-opera aplenty at Koon’s first village meeting. Why?
After his mayoral victory, Jason Koon fired then town-village attorney Daniel Bryson and dismissed Argento and nutritionist Kim Duffy.
Koon later re-instated Argento. The mayor stated during a January organizational meeting he believed Argento campaigned against him.
He reinstated Argento when the pro-crony crowd in ER threw a hissy fit, as a peace offering so they could get on with governing. So it was with surprise that I read this:
Tony Argento has resigned as town-village administrator and Fred Ricci, the former administrator, will serve in the position in the interim.
Any of our ER readers care to comment? Anyone have any more info on this?
Is the FBI closing in on Argento or something? Or is it just Joe Bruno that’s loaning the FBI 30 boxes of his favorite files?

Maybe the guilt was more than he could take - oh the shame!
Kudos to Koon for holding out and proving that principal is greater than greed! Maybe Argento can volunteer on his buddy Dave’s campaign - you remember the one who said that because he’s Italian, he doesn’t believe in revenge? Or perhaps the two of them can watch reruns of the Soprano’s together. Bubye!
