LTE on MCC

Friend of the blog and film noir aficionado James Harte has a top notch LTE in the Messenger-Post on the MCC mess:
My Irish grandmother used to say, “A thing should look right as well as be right.” The Monroe Community College presidential search fiasco isn’t either and Maggie Brooks’ stepping in won’t make it so.
Her saying, “It is outrageous to me,” sounds exactly like Captain Renault in Casablanca saying, “I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!” before being handed his winnings.

No Republican/Conservative board will ever satisfy my grandmother’s rule. Public confidence demands the inclusion of the only real opposition party, the Democrats.
Republican insistence that one-party boards are a coincidence is insulting. The deck is stacked and everyone knows it, including prospective MCC candidates and others who will see our town for what it is, a small burg ruled by a minor king, aided by a queen who is shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here.

“We’ll always have Minarik…”
