Killer LTE On FAIR Plan

Never thought of it this way, but it really fits– dealing with the GOP-dominated county government is, really, like a David vs. Goliath situation:

Thank you for battling Goliath

Special thanks to Jeff Crane, superintendent of West Irondequoit schools, James Fallon, who is the superintendent of Brockport Central School District and the president of the Monroe County Council of Superintendents, and to all other school districts who united to challenge County Executive Maggie Brooks’ F.A.I.R. plan. In a David and Goliath fight, David won (June 6 story, “County’s F.A.I.R. appeal denied”). Thank you to these administrators, and others, for refusing to accept a compromise in the education funding for our children. We are grateful for your integrity and perseverance.

Indeed. Anyone good with a slingshot around here? I wish there was a silver bullet (or rock) we could use to stop the Brooks/Minarik (and now Cheryl Dinolfo) PR juggernaut.

I think we all need to think about doing whatever it takes to stop Bill Smith from becoming MCC president. What can we do??

The best way to prevent the coronation of Bill Smith as MCC’s next president is to attend, and encourage others to attend, each meeting of the Monroe County Legislature and speak out against appointing trustees who will not have the college’s best interests in mind. The Legislature is going to appoint at least one trustee, to replace Lori Van Dusen, and all the Republican Legislators need to know that people are watching.

The next meeting of the Monroe County Legislature is on July 8 at 6pm in the County Office Building, 39 West Main St.
