We don’t need no stinkin caribou!

We have so much oil sitting up there under ANWR. Our congressman, Randy Kuhl thinks it would do us good to go up there and drill. Exile talked about this earlier today. I’m sure Randy’s only got our best interest at heart. Never mind what the studies say. Let’s get in there and start drilling. It’s only our last, undisturbed Wildlife Refuge. We have no connection to the life up there. Doesn’t the Bible say that man shall have dominion over all the earth, or something like that? How can I run my jet-ski, and my four-wheeler and my Hummer if gas is over $4.00/gal? What will I have to give up next?

Make sacrifices?

Suck it up?

Naw, I’m with Randy. Let’s drill.

What have we got to lose?

Drill ANWR save 2¢ a gallon.

In May 2008, the US Energy Agency commissioned a study saying that in 2025, when ANWR comes into full production, the savings on the world oil price will be about 75¢ a barrel. Figuring that last week oil prices went up $11 in one day, 75¢ seems like pennies.

As Grist works it out, there are 40 gallons in a standard oil barrel, which will save 2¢ a gallon.

When I did a partial fill-up on my little Ford Ranger pickup truck two weeks, with the smallest standard tank on a Ranger, I put in 14 gallons of gas for $57.73. If gas prices go from $4.099 a gallon to $4.079 a gallon, it will save me 32¢ total, and a fillup will cost $57.14.

Big savings to destroy such a precious place, when we already have devoted a significant amount of land to oil drilling.
