NY-26: Western NY Democrats Unite behind Jon Powers
Leaders to urge other Democratic candidates to join them behind Powers
WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – Jon Powers, Iraq War Veteran, former captain in the U.S. Army and the endorsed Democratic candidate in New York’s 26th congressional district joined with local Democratic leaders at the Erie County Democratic Headquarters in a press conference calling for a unified party in New York’s 26th Congressional District.
Flanked by Erie County Democratic Chairman Len Lenihan and Niagara County Chairman Dan Rivera, Powers thanked local leaders for supporting his candidacy and called for a unified push to bring a Democratic victory to New York’s 26th Congressional District.
“This is not a time for Democratic infighting,” Powers said. “In order to reverse the failed policies of the Bush Administration, Democrats will need to work together and I am proud to be working with the winning team.”
Noting the historic campaign run by Sen. Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Committee Chairs from each county in the 26th district signed a joint letter urging Democrats to unite in New York’s 26th Congressional District and work to elect Jon Powers to Congress.
“We are committed to winning this congressional seat and we urge Democrats to join our call to elect Jon Powers to Congress,” the letter reads. “Like Senator Clinton selflessly suspended her campaign for the greater cause of electing a Democrat to the White House, we need to unite behind one candidate to put our strongest foot forward in electing a Democrat to represent Western New York families in Congress. In this change election year, we are confident that Jon Powers is the best candidate and over the course of the next six months, we will be knocking on doors, raising money, holding events and working tirelessly to elect Jon Powers to Congress.”
Powers has the endorsement of every County Democratic Party in his district. He also has support from several town Democratic committees, local labor unions and national dignitaries.
I will try to upload video later.

Is there any Democratic committee or official who has endorsed Davis? I can’t remember seeing any. That’s pretty remarkable.
Aside from any party official’s endorsement, anyone seen a single “Letter to the Editor” in support of any candidate other than Jon Powers?
Davis hasn’t paid anyone to write LTEs yet, so the answer for him is “No”.
More importantly, I’ve only encountered Jon Powers out in the district actually attending events and regularly listening to voters. The hard work is being done by Jon Powers. That in itself should tell voters who will work hard for them, who will listen to their concerns.
This is a great sentiment, but unfortunately, I am doubtful. Davis is a stubborn old rich guy who will continue even if polling said he would get 10%. Konst just got in the race AFTER Powers got all the county endorsements, so I hardly think she will bend. Maybe Kryzan will drop out, has anyone heard a word from her?
