Interview with Dave Garretson
Here’s the interview we did with Dave Garretson last night:
RT: Rick Dollinger told us earlier that one of his highest priorities would be rules reform in Albany. Would you be supportive of that?
DG: Absolutely. You’ve heard the expression “3 Men In a Room”. At the moment 2 of the 3 men are Democrats, and the one guy, Bruno is a Republican. It’s easy for a Dems to be for rules reform in the Senate because we don’t control it.
No one person should have complete control Senate or the Assembly, the way they do now, because we have a representative government people like me should be representing our constituents, and not just sitting there waiting and nodding. Rules reform is essential in both the Assembly and Senate.
RT: Name a few issues that are particularly important in your district as oppose to state wide.
DG: In the district, it’s about 3 things. First we have jobs and economic development. The loss of manufacturing jobs has been a big problem. We need an effective way to foster smart, green collar jobs that will propel us into the post-petroleum era.
Second: the high level of property tax in Monroe County and New York State. we need a cap on property taxes so that when they become overly burdensome, people get a break. We make that up by going to those who can afford it.
The third thing we need is honesty in government, whether in Washington, Albany or county government or town halls, we need to let the sunshine in. No more closed door deals. No more buddy system.
RT: A question about your opponent, Bill Reilich. A pretty high proportion of bills he’s co-sponsored have to do with vintage cars.Your thoughts on this?
DG: Mr. Reilich champions himself as a proponent of low taxes and more jobs. In reality, when he’s had a chance to vote for economic development, he’s voted the wrong way. He recently proposed no job creation economic development bills, none. However, Mr. Reilich has a hobby, he’s interested in vintage cars. He has sponsored 3 bills for vintage automobile collectors. In the same time he’s sponsored none for economic development.

Holy crap this dude is right on. The State of New York has been bleeding, jobs lost, economy going down the drain, healthcare in crisis, gas prices out of control…
and all this Reilich guy has done is worry about classic cars? I noticed he even sits on some state created classic car board in Albany. And I further noted that he OWNS some kind of classic car company. So he’s basically been pursuing his hobby and his business on the taxpayer dime at the expense of not only the taxpayers, but the economy, families, jobs and healthcare. Nice job Reilich. Where do I sign up for such a deal?
If little Billy wants to play with cars, I suggest he do it on his own dime. Garretson has my vote for sure.
cute:
he’s against video games too.
What’s the name of his company?
He likes guns too…

what’s that old saying…he who dies with the most toys wins?
Sure…not only does he like guns ….he doesn’t mind any young kid pulling the trigger….yup….he voted against requiring manufacturers to design and install child safety trigger guards on new guns!
Gosh darn! If he’d have been in office when lawmakers decided to prevent kids from being poisoned by installing child proof caps on medicines I wouldn’t have to ask my wife to open my pill bottles!
Garretson, give me your biggest lawn sign.
that’s BAD - REALLY, really bad.
You sure about the gun locks and kids? It doesn’t seem reasonable that any normal thinking human being could do such a thing.
Not precisely accurate, but the truth is just as damning: A00829 requires firearm manufacturers to incorporate “childproofing features” into new guns. Not a trigger lock, but manufactured right into the gun (most likely by slightly increasing the strength needed to pull the trigger, so it’s more than what most 5 year olds can do). Reileich voted no, but it passed. See the bill here: http://www.assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A00829
AN EYE OPENER. The truth is SCARIER than anything I could make up.

Please check this link to the NY State Assembly. On this suite of 10 gun control bills that were passed tis year by assembly reps. Bill Reilich voted AGAINST PUBLIC OPINION and AGAINST Common Sense and Family Values 9 out of 10 times. Reilich obviously is posturing himself and aligning himself with a minority fringe and not caring about his constituents . Read the voting records…shocking…..Scarey.
