Well, now, this is a surprise!

Maggie reacts to the governor’s decision to recognize same-sex marriages:

“Who sets the policy, who establishes the laws, and until I have that answer, I’m not about to change the policy in Monroe County.” County Executive Maggie Brooks argues the legislature needs to determine state law, not the courts. She says the county isn’t a state agency and won’t be offering health benefits to same sex couples.

Maggie Brooks = OxyMoron

She does whatever it takes to STOP couples who WANT to marry, and yet does NOTHING to substantiate her position in promoting marriage amongst all of the young and unwed singe mothers who ultimately end up getting benefits from her pond. Nor is she the living example of perfection in this month’s “Brides” Magazine, having been married and remarried 3 times. How many of those ex-husbands of hers is SHE responsible to provide benefits for on the Monroe County benefit fund?

So when you send such a mixed message, one can only conclude that like the 29 million dollar hole in her budget, there is one just as wide in her head. Isn’t there some big bad member of society somewhere that she should be arresting? Or isn’t there another Board or Presidency tucked away somewhere in the county she can attempt to place either an ex-husband, a child, a relative, or a crony in?

Word to Maggie: Get a life. And let others live theirs. You’re just not fit to be making determinations regarding values or morals. We’ve seen your face. We’re not afraid of you - repulsed maybe, but not afraid. Steve really needs to let you out to play more often.

Maggie is using her version of the “unelected activist judges” canard. Now, I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know if this is possible, but I would love to see someone haul her into court for denying benefits to legally married couples.

Unfortunately, when she makes a decision she can’t be personally sued - the county is the defendant and covers the cost. We’re the ones who pay. So we didn’t ask for her, we don’t want her, and we have to keep paying for her f’ups - like FAIR, same sex marriage lawsuits, the Ren Square fiasco (hey everyone - we can get less for more!), the MCC embarrassment and the resulting loss of its reputation. I know many of us are counting down until Bush is gone, but I’ll be looking forward to the day when I don’t see her sour scowl (or fake smile) greeting me in the morning papers.

Over and over again, Maggie demonstrates that she does not serve the public. Her gibberish would shame the baboons in the Rochester zoo! Send her home and don’t let her out of the attic, no matter how much she raves….
