Ted Nixon for MCC President!
Reader tom said this a few days ago in response to our article on “Bitter Bill” Smith’s (temporary) setback on his express train to the MCC Presidency:
What if Ted Nixon applied to be president of MCC??
We’ve covered Nixon extensively here, during his run last year for Smith’s term-limited County Leg seat. And it occurs to me that tom’s comment, though made in jest, has some validity. After all, Nixon meets or exceeds most of the criteria the county GOP is trying to apply to the MCC Prez selection “process”:
- He’s local
- He’s a politician
- He’s contributed money to the local GOP
- He’s held office as a GOPer or helped other GOPers get elected
Okay, he’s not the perfect candidate. He’s been slacking on the whole pay-to-play thing.
But he has some credentials Smith doesn’t come close to having:
- He’s actually worked in education
- He’s taken businesses that were not doing well (like WCMF) and turned them around, so he’s got tons of business, and management experience
Watch out for local GOP pundits’ heads exploding as they try to explain why a Democrat should never be allowed near the MCC presidency. But it seems to me that it’d be the same kind of exploding that happened when GOPers who crowed over Bush’s executives power grabs (illegal wiretapping, etc.) were asked to consider if they’d be cool with President Hillary Clinton having those expanded powers.

My goodness, Ted Nixon is a popular guy. Depending on what blog I read, there are suggestions that he run for this office or that office, that he be the next chair of MCDC and now the intriguing idea of applying to be the next president of MCC.
Gee, even if he didn’t do any of the above, you have to admit the guy is pretty awesome. He teaches junior high school children. Wow. That is pretty intense. He hired Brother Wease and fixed WCMF.
Few people are as accomplished as Mr. Nixon.
is it possible to get him an application? or is applying for the position secretive so that only a few can claim to have done so?
