Randy’s GI bill contortions

A couple weeks ago, Randy Kuhl voted “present” on Bill HR 2642, which would have expanded educations benefits for servicemen. The “present” vote was part of a parliamentary tactic used by Republican to torpedo the bill. In effect, it was a “nay”.

Today, Randy is pushing his own version of a bill expanding educational benefits for servicemen…with no mention of his earlier opposition to such a bill.

What gives? Does he think no one is paying attention?

I’m sure many people are paying attention and we can expect to hear more from Mr. Eric Massa on John R. Kuhl’s “present” vote. Nevertheless, Kuhl’s version of the bill (at least as explained on the link to Kuhl’s website) gives no details, but I’m sure you can count on it to be less generous than the one that Kuhl voted “present” on.

Make no mistake, Obama and many other Democrats have already figured out that they have the stronger position on “supporting the troops” and will hammer the Rethuglicans on this.
