Bitter Bill Smith in his own words

WOW- speechless works for me here. Careful where you step Bill, there are little people all around you.

“Mr. Kessler and I are now the only two people who had an easier time of getting into Yale than into Monroe Community College,”

So says Bill Smith in a Messenger Post article. Ok - If is is easier to get into Yale, then go get a job there- I’m sure your credentials would guarantee a job. Right? But that would actually require work on your part as opposed to simply being appointed. Work like applying to the position ahead of time. Like taking the time to actually obtain the qualifications that would make a student and faculty board um, ACTUALLY SELECT YOU, and in the case of the faculty board, deem you qualified.

With an attitude like that, how can you be expected to put the interests of community higher education ahead of your own elite views.

But it gets better. How about with this response to claims Bill Smith is unqualified? Remember, the leadership/faculty selection committee deemed Bitter Bill unqualified.

“That is a crude mischaracterization,” Smith said. “One of the essential qualifications which has been stated by the college itself on its reaffirmation of accreditation application states, ‘The role of the president is primarily external with a focus upon developing and nurturing partnerships with a variety of political, business and community constituencies.’”

reread that passage aloud and tell me you don’t get a headache.

Does this seem like someone who is in touch with the community? Nope.

Ever the snake oil salesman.

Yeah, speechless works.

Word to your mother. Words to live by. Too bad he didn’t subscribe to his OWN philosophies when he was PRESIDENT of the Monroe County Legislature!

HA! Great write-up Stol7! I wonder if he wants truffle gravy with his dish of CROW!

I’m staggered by the stupidity of Bill Smith’s quote. It’s crazy to compare getting into a college with being president of one plus this shows contempt for MCC. This should seriously hurt his chances of being president. It’s really a big gaffe on his part.

Bitter Bill almost sounds like he feels he has a “right” to get selected as MCC Prez

I wonder if he displayed such contempt for MCC when he applied. Good thing Harvard educated Lori Van Dusen saw him for what he was and his party for what they were doing.

I have a great solution to the Bill Smith problem. It’s a win-win situation for Smith and the people of Monroe County. Smith gets to be president of MCC and we don’t have to deal with him anymore.

I had another wicked thought. What if Ted Nixon applied to be president of MCC??

Yeah, but did you see the job description and requirements. Alas, another community college that would reject this self-impressed Yale grad.

For example, the first line in the job description requires that he act in accordance with standards. That probably rules out political whores. And the qualifications require someone who is willing to fully intergrate himself with the citizens living in the community. Strike two. An inclusive leader, a strong, experience academic leader - strikes three and four, he’s way out. Darn. Can’t even get a job in some small, agricultural college. Hey Bill, better give up that life’s dream.

Hey, we could all right Bill Smith letters of recommendation just to get him out of this area :)

I’m also worried about Bill Smith. Think about it…your life long ambition to be a community college president gets put on hold because political favors weren’t enough to get him appointed. I feel so sorry for Bill. Now he’ll have to wait to work his magic at MCC…I bet the wait is killing him. Poor guy.

Hey, we could also all WRITE letters of recommendation for Bill Smith. Somethings the fingers type faster than the brain can think or spell.
