What ever happened to the Wellesley Inn and the COMIDA money it didn’t deserve?

Just curious. Saturday I was at a restaurant in the area and drove by the former Wellesley Inn. Here is a picture of the renovations.

You might remember the Wellesley Inn when it looked like this

The same one that got all the COMIDA benefits and upon further investigation could not meet the minimal requirements and ultimately the tax breaks were rescinded and the application withdrawn.

But not until ~60K in tax benefits were received by the owners. 60K that rightfully belongs to the tax payers of the Town of Brighton and Monroe County.

Anyone know if Brighton or the County ever got reimbursed for the inappropriate COMIDA benefits?

No - but I do know that all of the Wellsley Inn’s were sold to Holiday Inn. The one on Ridge Road in Greece was remodeled and finished and is currently operational.

The site won’t let me post a press release from the corporations involved (2004)
