Barack and Johny-could it be?…..
….yes it could, something’s coming, something good.
I just can’t resist hoping.
From “The Opinionator” at the NYTs:
Here’s the case for picking Edwards:
1. He’s already been tested on the national stage and not likely to cause a distracting scandal.
2. He appeals to the same working class white voters that back Clinton.
3. He favors Obama’s new brand of politics.
4. He could put North Carolina and possibly other Southern states in play.
5. Clinton would probably support him. With more than 1,700 delegates in Clinton’s pocket, Obama needs to at least get her tacit approval if he wants to have a unified party.
The case has been made (and not by me). Any thoughts?

I’ve often thought the dream ticket would be Obama for President, Edwards for VP, Hillary in charge of health care, Al Gore - the environment. All four, standing at the convention - armed raised in unity.
Last Republican out of the White House - turn off the lights.
It’s what America wants, and it would be hard to beat for decades to come.
Personally, I think Richardson is the ideal VP candidate. He brings the foreign policy experience needed, balances the ticket geographically, and his Hispanic heritage also helps.
Then again, Richardson would be a good Sec. of State as well.
Wouldn’t happen with Richardson. The only thing the GOP has convinced people other than to be concerned about a black president, is to be concerned about all of those Mexican’s crossing the border, sucking up your welfare, and wanting to get driver’s licenses.
The poison is in the water.
I can’t picture Edwards willing to settle for the VP role again. If I were to place a bet, I’d go with Richardson.
Biden. Period.
Ok, first, let me say that the nod to the Stephen Sondheim lyrics is greatly appreciated. . .
But I can say for sure that this announcement came after *something* was agreed upon between the Obama peeps and the Edwards peeps, that much is certain. He’s definitely getting something out of this. Supreme Court has been thrown out there as a down-the-road option, but in the short term I was thinking maybe SecState or even something closer to his passion, like SecInterior. I don’t see Veep only because he’s been there, and besides, Barack needs a prize fighter in that role with serious foreign policy experience.
And all that talk about Hillary during the announcement was more than just making her feel good, too. I still don’t see her accepting the veep slot - and I can’t imagine a worse back seat driver to the presidency, anyway - but we’ve all been surprised before this election season.
A West Side Story fan? Always glad to oblige DFE!
Maybe Howard Dean will hint at something tonight?
neither Edwards or Hillary are viable picks. You can’t have a VEEP who is more visible or powerful than the candidate unless you are Bush.
I bet it will be someone we haven’t even thought of yet.
I like the Biden thought…best foreign policy experience in the country, but I also like Jim Webb…brings in Virginia, war hero…tough and smart…and great energy…who totally embraces the notion that we have to get out from under the thumb of corporate America
People talk about Edwards for Attorney General.
I like Jim Webb as veep.
With John, you also get Elizabeth!!!!!!!
