Bleeding out the NRCC

Yeah - we had this discussion a while ago.

The result? The NRCC has depleted 20% of its cash on three races in conservative districts.  They are not just conservative districts, they have been progressively conservative districts. MS-01 for example went to Bush 62/38%. What does the NRCC have to show for it? Nothing.

Perhaps even more importantly, it gave Childers an opportunity to grow his base of support in the district because he will have to run again in November.

I say, as Exile has said, things are going well for the Democrats.

20% of Cash on Hand for no victories and there are still lots and lots of seats to contest in November or, as Josh Kraushaar over at Politico put it:

The $1.27 million that the NRCC spent in this heavily Republican district amounted to nearly 20 percent of their entire cash-on-hand. The committee has now spent over $3 million to defend three conservative House seats, losing all three of them, and are ill-equipped financially to fully compete in an ever-widening playing field of House seats.

Oops - talk about no return on investment. Here is more from that article:

The results amount to a rebuke of the Republican strategy to nationalize the race and associate Childers with Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Obama held low approval ratings in the district, but the nearly $2 million that GOP groups poured into northern Mississippi failed to make the race a referendum on the national political landscape.

[snip]

A GOP House leadership aide told the Politico last week that “if we don’t win in Mississippi, I think you are going to see a lot of people running around here looking for windows to jump out of.”

Better start looking up at the sky for falling objects.

This is why I’m still here. The people are sick and tired of the run-of-the-mill Bush Republican.

In general… people are sick of politicians
The people who promise to provide for us are thieves and the ones who promised to “defend” our freedom have become the oppressors.

On another note… some other political blogger claimed to have heard “We Will Rise Above” by Black Flag coming from my campaign HQ.

Best Regards,
-Dave Gay
