First quarter fundraising totals for NRCC and DCCC

The National Republican Congressional Committee had a pretty good quarter but continues to trail the Democratic Campaign Congressional Committee by about $37 million cash on hand:

The National Republican Congressional Committee raised more than $7 million in March, bringing their first quarter fundraising total to $15.4 million for the first three months of 2008, according to numbers posted Friday with the Federal Election Commission.

The committee, which ended March with more than $7.1 million in cash on hand, still trails the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee by a sizeable margin. By comparison, the DCCC ended the month with $44.3 million after raising $20 million for the quarter, according to a committee press release.

It appears that we’ll probably be looking at about a $30-$40 million dollar cash advantage for the DCCC over the RNCC come November. Divide that out over, say, 60 races and it comes to about half a million per race. An extra half a million might go a long way in inexpensive tv markets like Buffalo, Syracuse, and Rochester.
