SD-56 upate

This just came in:

The Eastside Dems (LD’s 21, 23, and 24) held their designating caucuses last night; the latest stop in the contest for the designation to run against Republican Joe Robach.

Dollinger took 64% of the vote in LD 21, 67% of the vote in LD 23, and then 52% of the vote in LD 24.

Dollinger currently has 8,129 delegates to Sandy Frankel’s 5,482 and Willa Powell’s 592. It takes 10,589 votes to secure the designation.

This came from a Dollinger supporter, not the committees themselves, so I’m going to double check that all of this is accurate (as I presume it mostly likely is).

Update: The numbers are accurate.  Here’s the exact vote count:

LD 21

Dollinger 7
Frankel 4
Powell 0

LD 23

Dollinger 20
Frankel 7
Powell 3

LD 24

Dollinger 12
Frankel 9
Powell 1
Other 1

did willa concede last night? i talked to a few folks who were confused about what exactly her speech meant. can anyone shine some light on that?

No, she did not concede. She’s keeping her options open.

So….what LDs/towns are left to make their designations? Are we looking at the same situation as with the presidential nominees?

I’ll try to look into this and get back to you if I have time today.

there is probably no reason to drop out before the convention. it gives the candidates a chance to sway people for another month, while contemplating a primary. i think some city ld’s remain, although there aren’t many.

Yes! It’s official! Here are the numbers and percentages:

The Eastside Dems (LD’s 21, 23, and 24) held their designating caucuses last night; the latest stop in the contest for the designation to run against Republican Joe Robach.

Rick Dollinger continued to build on his momentum as he swept all three of the caucuses. He took 64% of the vote in LD 21, 67% of the vote in LD 23, and then 52% of the vote in LD 24.

This gives Rick Dollinger a very sizable overall delegate lead. He currently has 8,129 delegates to Sandy Frankel’s 5,482 and Willa Powell’s 592. It takes 10,589 votes to secure the designation.

It looks like the writing is on the wall here. There are only 6,816 votes left up for grabs - Willa Powell is officially out of contention for the designation, and Sandy Frankel would have to win just over 80% of the remaining delegates to reach the win number.

Rick Dollinger looks to be the Democrat poised to take on Republican Joe Robach.

Nope. Posted on the Greece Democrats website where Democrats are charged and ready to oust Robach, and return Rick Dollinger to the Senate, and eliminate the 30 year control Bruno has held on the Senate…got a problem with that?

Geez - Jiminy - sometimes you can scare the tourists. Not everything is a confrontation waiting to happen.

Beyond the actual numbers it does read like a Dollinger Press release. Given that Greece mostly endorsed Dollinger - I would expect nothing less toi appear on the Greece site.

In fact we got the same thing but choose to strip out all the verbiage and add out own commentary.

Bottom line is attacks on the internals that only take away from the focus of an extremely important seat in the Senate just detract from the issues. If you sneeze in Greece, Joe shows up to wipe your nose for you. It’s so in your face that this election has become the focus of many who realize that the only hope for real change in Albany is to oust the 30 year control. Chewing at each other doesn’t accomplish anything except wasting time on what could be constructive methods of working towards progress…unless this campaign season will be nothing more than a groundhog day repeat of the April 1 post you wrote. And that would be SO wrong.

Who the heck was attacked?

I agree about the Senate and the need to change the Senate. Ousting Robach is part of a Statewide strategy to flip the Senate of which the SD-56 race is simply a part off.

I stand by my earlier comments - not everything is a confrontation waiting to happen.

The Dollinger post sounded as written by a Dollinger supporter. Hep pointed that out.
