What is my butt doing in all this hot water and what are you Democrats going to do to fix it??

As per Stlo7’s post of yesterday, things went down as planned at the county leg meeting last evening. WHEC has coverage here:

Brooks last year got her fellow republicans to vote to pay the local share of Medicaid out of the sales tax. Democrats objected saying there was no community dialogue about it. Brooks F.A.I.R. plan reduced the schools’ share by about $29-million. For example, Greece lost $4.6 million a year. In the West Irondequoit district, the loss of sales tax amounted to $1.2 million.

And if the county has to make that up, democrats say they don’t want a big property tax increase. “Property taxes is far and away the biggest complaint that people have,” said Ted O’Brien, (D) County Legislator. “As Mayor Duffy said in his state of the city address last night, it’s the last alternative we should be looking at. We’ve got to find ways to solve this budget problem without resorting to going to a property tax, if we possibly can.”

We all know the story, and wait patiently as the authors craftily develop the characters, but who would have thought that the Republicans would reach across the isle to ask for a solution to this mess?

Republican leader Dan Quatro says it’s time republicans and democrats work together.

How’s that for an unexpected twist?

How magnanimous of Quatro…

I thought Democrats don’t have a plan to fix things? First thing to do is get them to admit we’ve had ideas all along. Then throw that PDF that the Monroe Dems in the Lej have drafted on the subject. What is their website again?

“Republican leader Dan Quatro says it’s time republicans and democrats work together.”

They WERE trying to work together - most of them were either hauled off in police cars, or denied access to the Legislature Building, or denied the right to speak.

It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid
It’s the good advice that you just didn’t take
Who would’ve thought… it figures”

It’s time the Republicans and Democrats start working together?!?!!? How hypocritical can Quatro be? He and his friends certainly didn’t want to work with Democrats when to do so wouldn’t have benefited their interests.
