The 3 officers will not lose their jobs, they can also transfer over to the county, but will go into existing openings available. The Town of Clay will pay OCSO for the exclusing availability of those 2 patrols that will replace exactly what the Clay PD has been doing all along. Same service, less money. Is the Onondaga County Sheriff going to hire six or eight additional deputies and buy 2 new patrol cars? If so how much will that cost? Who will pay that cost? If the Sheriff is going to use existing resources, what part of Onondaga County will now get less Sheriff service due to the shift? I guess it is more acceptable for suburbs to merge their services with the county, but not if the city wants to do it.
