NY-26: Davis is Making People Mad
With so much going on in the national political scene, you know it takes a lot to make people pay attention. So when the nation’s largest progressive Dem website front pages something bad about Jack Davis, you know he’s making a name for himself, and not in a good way.
Crazy Jack Davis, who couldn’t be bothered to campaign last year and lost what should’ve been a victory against Republican Tom Reynolds, is now showing that he isn’t just crazy, he’s delusional as well.
They link to a Congressional Quarterly article where he’s, basically, whining about how it’s unfair that campaign finance laws try to even the playing field to keep millionaires like himself from simply buying an election. Oh, and using the argument that he’s running against an incumbent. You know, I thought that Reynolds was retiring or something. Seems like it was in all the papers. Huh. Anyway, funny commentary from the aforementioned national website:
Yup. According to Davis, millionaires are at a disadvantage because they can’t swamp their peon challengers with an avalanche of self-provided greenbacks. Where did I place that tiny violin?
The funny thing is that there is no incumbent in this race. Maybe Davis doesn’t realize it, but Reynolds has announced his retirement. This is an open seat. So Davis is fighting for an advantage not against an incumbent, but against his Democratic primary challenger and the non-incumbent Republican candidate in the fall.
Next he’ll sue against the advantages enjoyed by candidates who actually get off their lazy asses and campaign and meet voters. That’s so, like, totally unfair to lazy-ass, bat-shit insane gazillionaires.
I guess they’re referring to Jon Powers’ hustle, campaigning throughout the district since last summer. They finish with:
But that’s not all! With Jack Davis, you always get an extra helping of crazy:
Davis is already taking tough shots.
[Jon] Powers, Davis said, “is a kid. He’s 29 years old and he’s never had a real job,” said Davis. “If we do get into a primary, he won’t have any money left.”
Jon Powers served his nation in uniform, fought in Iraq, and is now a public school social studies teacher.
Apparently, those aren’t “real jobs” to Davis.
Yeesh. C’mon Davis, you’re taking “mean ol’ man” to a new level.

The comments on the DailyKos story are a riot. Lots of anecdotes about Jack that really highlight what a poor choice he would be for the Democrats (or anyone) in NY26.
Tonight, Greece and Parma held their designating caucuses. Jack Davis received a grand total of 3 votes in Greece and zero in Parma. Powers won the night combined totals. Powers 48, Kryzan 12, Davis 3. Clearly Jack has some thinking to do.
Are these the only 2 Monroe towns in NY26? What does this mean in terms of a possible MCDC endorsement? As a person in the GLOW hinterlands, I’d love some context. (I do know enough to know this is great news.)
Yes these votes mean that Jon Powers will be Monroe County’s designated candidate.
There are 4 Monroe county towns in the 26th,Greece and Parma are 2 of them. Jon Powers has Monroe county clinched. Greece carries enough weight (weighted votes at county Dem convention) to determine the candidate without the other towns… so Parma was icing on the cake, and Jon Powers will be Monroe County’s Democratic nominee. By the way, Jack Davis left early. He was the only candidate who did not stay around long enough to hear the outcome of the caucus vote. Alice Hryzan and Jon Powers both stayed, both had another opportunity to speak to the committees, and both had another shot at working the room afterwards.
“He’s 29 years old and he’s never had a real job,†said Davis.”
What a dick.
