Good Companies gone Bad - that isn’t the smell of Lilacs you are smelling

Did anyone catch this in the Messenger Post?

Then, when her trash and recycling gets picked up, she says her work is all for nothing because her garbage disposal company throws it all into one garbage truck.

[snip]

Mackowiak, along with numerous other area residents, have been having trouble with Lilac Disposal, a waste management company based in Ontario, Wayne County, that also serves the east side of Monroe County. In the fall, residents in Webster complained that their recyclables and trash were ending up in the same truck, which prompted both the town and county to warn the company about its actions. Now, it seems the same issue has trickled into Penfield and Brighton.

So people spearate their recyclables yet they end up in a landfill.

In following with county laws, Collins said that Lilac first received a warning for its first violation of mixing trash and recyclables and a $50 fine for a second violation. For a third and any additional violations, Lilac will be subject to a $1,000 fine each time.

read the entire article and start watching your recyclables.

Any other experiences out there? Sounds like the job for a camcorder.

Actually today was Lilac day in my hood.

Ready behind the lens.

No foul play.

episode 27, in which the good monkey stalks the garbageman with a 500mm lens and a gilly suit…

I prefer a 28mm all up in their trash.

But a ghillie suit made from recyclables could serve as performance art as well.

That would be good video material.

I have Waste Management and they actually use separate trucks. Trash comes pretty early in the morning, and a second recycling truck in the afternoon.

Of course, I have no idea whether the trucks end up and different destinations, but I’d hope someone monitors that.
