Used to be that conservative went hand in hand with GOP. That changed in a MAJOR way. I think many Conservatives now look to the candidate, assess the political climate as a whole, and try to find candidates that share their philosophies. Too bad the Chairman of the Conservative party locally doesn't feel the same way. But that would require an effort on his part.
