What Would The Founding Fathers Think of Minarik’s Scare Tactics?
My esteemed colleague, Chris Bowers over at OpenLeft, gets to the heart of the matter:
we did not declare our independence from the British because they were failing to keep us safe. Instead, we declared independence from the British because they were denying us our rights. In other words, democracy, liberty and justice were the overriding concerns in forming the nation, not security. Declaring our independence in order to secure our liberty actually put us at great risk, considering that a higher percentage of Americans died in the War of Independence than in any other war in our nation’s history. The country was formed quite squarely by putting our liberty on a higher priority level than our security.
Minarik, Bush, and the national GOP’s fearmongering spits in the face of what the founding fathers fought and died for. I mean, look at this flyer the local GOP used last year:
Would the British have had a similar flyer? “Support the Tory Loyalists, or those French, Indians and Hessian mercenaries (that we hired) will getcha!”
Look at the police state/dictatorship-like scene the GOP orchestrated at the last county leg meeting. That over-reaction, trampling liberty in the name of security, must have the framers of the Constitution spinning in their graves. Bowers again:
Five priorities are listed in the preamble [to the Constitution], not one. I took the “liberty” of highlighting the non-security related priorities: Justice, general Welfare, and Liberty. In fact, “Justice” is listed before the two security-related priorities…(snip)…Security and / or common defense was not the single, over-riding concern of framers of the Constitution, even though in our contemporary political discourse it is usually the only task anyone seems to remember the Constitution appointing to the government of the United States.
This goes all the way up from the local GOP to Bush’s insistence on Congress giving companies immunity for illegal spying on Americans. From the FISA fight to local county leg meetings, the founders are having their legacy destroyed. We have a responsibility to do what we can to ensure that the founders’ legacy is protected and put back on the right path again.

Fear is an excellent tool used to control people. Check the comments sections of the D&C website. You’ll read message from all the people who buy into the fear that Minarik and crew are spewing.
Democrats also use fear tactics, even against each other. Read about Clinton’s new ad:

Nice try. Not even close,
I don’t understand why everyone thinks Minarik is this GOP mastermind? He’s a face for Democrats to point fingers at, nothing more. Brooks runs the party and makes the decisions, or haven’t you picked up on that yet! If Minarik was this guy that the liberals and the D&C harangue constantly, he still would have been the GOP state chair. He’s not, and he was marginalized to be the GOP chair once again because no one else wanted the job. The rest of the GOP members actually wanted to DO something productive, instead of launch salvos from a chair that has no meaning and have a position with zero responsibility. So let’s all get off the “Minarik and the Conspiracy” bandwagon. That guy is as harmful as a toothless alligator! The November election results are a proven litmus test to his abilities. Yeah I am shaking at his might! LOL!
He send you here to try to “save us” from ourselves? Brooks does not wear the pants in this act. Everyone knows that the sick mind of Minarik has taken the GOP down a road not many want to travel. Want some proof?
Start looking at the elections last November. Look at the special elections held just last week. Now fast forward to November and hold on to your hat…
What’s even better will be the fallout that comes when the newly elected continue to discover and prosecute the crimes that have been committed on the residents of this state and this county.
Who you say? Here’s a few names:
Reynolds
Schwab
Walts
Auberger
Barry
Zyra
Smith
…with more to come. Minarik may LOOK like a toothless alligator, but his stench gives him away. And I will go on record as saying he deserves everything he’s gonna get - and then some.
Have a nice day.
