Victory in the North Country…next up: Big Joe and and the Falcon

After Aubertine’s win in NYSD-48, the Democrats are one win away from taking control of the New York State Senate and ending Joe Bruno’s reign of terror. Which seats will be most heavily targeted in November? We’ve heard various things about some seats near Syracuse (especially this one) and on Long Island, but for now it looks like the biggest targets are:
- * Joe Robach’s seat in Greece, which we’ve written about extensively in the past. It’s already attracted three Democratic challengers. Nothing says “vulnerable incumbent” like “multiple challengers.”
- * Serphin “The Falcon” Maltese’s seat in Queens. Maltese edged out a largely unfunded challenger (Albert Baldeo) last time. Expect Democrats to throw more effort into the race this time.

That is SO perfect! I think this wins “Best Post Title” of the year!

Talking to reporters in The Egg, Bruno looked back over 32 years in office and said unfair tactics are spilling into the 48th Senate District race: “I’ve been in this business a long, long time. I have never experienced the dirty tricks, the low
handed tactics that have taken place politically since we’ve had this administration on the second floor . . . dirty tricks, scandalous behavior, some of what’s gone on out there in that district in the last couple of days really is about as dishonest as anything can be.”
So is he saying he hasn’t experienced these tactics because he hasn’t been on the receiving end, as Minarik, Rove and their ilk don’t mete out such tactics to their compadres?
Louis: I hate that kind of indiscriminate whining. Can’t he name anything specific?
Jiminy: thanks.
Bruno Translation: Oh Crap - they’re finally on to us!
This exceptional writing is just another example of why Rochester Turning remains NUMBER ONE!
I’m so glad I have a non-political, information based site I can turn to for the truth!
Look for term-limited City Councilman Joseph P. Addabbo to win a primary against insurgent and perennial candidate Albert Baldeo to face Serphin Maltese in the November election…the 15th SD is a heavy Democratic district with Democratic registrations with a 2-1 margin over the GOP…Baldeo has threatened to run on a third party line if defeated in the primary by Addabbo…Addabbo has long standing roots in the community with his father being a long term US Congressman (former Defense Appropriations sub-committee Chairman) from the same Congressional District area…Addabbo is also well liked by the community at-large and has provided excellent constituency services in his stead as a City Councilman… He should also receive the full support of the Queens County Democratic party leadership in the November election…I would predict Addabbo wins big in his race against Maltese and secures Senator Malcolm Smith the Senate Majority Leader position…
Wow! This is so big. I wasn’t sure we’d be able to pull this one off, given the enormous registration edge the Repug’s have in this district.
One thing’s for sure, come January there’s going to be quite a few senate GOPer staff out of work. If they’re lucky, maybe Robach and his staff can get jobs in the public defender’s office.
I wish this wasn’t so but…
The fact is that Joe Robach has a war chest that will be hard to equal. Although an Albany insider reports that the leadership is ‘displeased’ with the nature of his “indiscretion” they can’t afford to lose their guy here in Monroe County. And money equals victory in New York electoral races
He is already sending out mailers and lining up his donors and the ever willing source of cash and volunteers, the Greece religious right.
Will democrats ante up? Will they put their money where their mouths are on this one?
Yup.
