The NY North Country Senate Race (48th) in a Nutshell
Exile reminded everyone that there’s a critically important race going on today, pitting dairy farmer/assemblyman Darrel Aubertine (D) against rich kid lawyer/assemblyman William Barclay (R).
The Albany Project has been all over this race like a freakin’ horde of locusts, so I’ll just provide you with some of their recent linky goodness to check out as we wait for the results to come in.
- The SEIU is wisely backing away from Bruno, their old pal. Earlier in the campaign, they endorsed Barclay, but now they appear to be throwing cash at Aubertine’s field campaign.
- Barclay’s sad, last-ditch attempt to prove in an ad that he’s not just a rich kid out of touch with the regular folks of the 48th.
- Reports from canvassers working for the Aubertine campaign. And more.
- A great pic from TAP:

- Barclay’s dad’s firm secures him the Independence Party line on the ballot at the last minute. It was in question b/c one county’s Independence Party endorsed Aubertine.
- TAP’s election day news roundup on the 48th.
- The north country is getting hit with a snow storm today. Not depressing turnout yet, as of midday. I’ve lived there, and it takes a lot more than a few snowflakes to hold these people down.
- People are spraypainting snowbanks in support of Aubertine.
- Turnout is looking like a general election turnout, as of midday.
