Supporting discrimination-your tax dollars at work
My rights are not protected until everyone’s rights are protected. I Just got back from the protest about an hour ago. I carried a sign, and chanted along with the crowd:
“Hey, hey-ho, ho! Maggie Brooks has got to go!”
“2-4-6-8-love does not discriminate!”
“Hey, hey-ho, ho homophobia has got to go!”
It was a peaceful crowd of 60+. There was minimal police presence-keeping the doorways clear. Gary Pudup from the ACLU was there. Sandy Frankel, Brighton’s town supervisor was there. It was a festive crowd, in rainbow colors-cold, but enthusiastic.
This is just a teaser-Stlo7 will have video for you later.
[Update: btp here. From the comments, it sounds like there were a goodly number of folks there:
I was at the four pm protest and did a headcount while walking the lines. My numbers put the minimum at 190 and I know I did not catch the people who came after I did or left before me.
Good on them, and thanks to ladkiddo and stlo7 for covering this!]
[ Further update from ladkiddo: from an incoming link- I would like to add this poem. Thanks CJ for finding it for me.]

Good coverage but your numbers reflect only the noontime protest where there were seventy five people. I was at the four pm protest and did a headcount while walking the lines. My numbers put the minimum at 190 and I know I did not catch the people who came after I did or left before me.
Thank you for counting. I did not. My guesstimate was way off, apparently. I was at the 4PM protest and left about 5PM. I normally overestimate.
There were A LOT of people there and they just kept coming. So much for this appeal being the will of county residents.
