The court of public opinion has already ruled. Bye bye Maggie. You may be term limited to serving 3, but this community will let you know that 2 is too many.

There’s a nice story in the D&C that makes the unFAIR plan an even harder pill to swallow in that court of public opinion:

(February 21, 2008) — Monroe County’s 2007 median total property tax rate was $34.68, about 19 percent higher than the statewide median rate of $29.18, according to a database analysis based on information from the New York state Comptroller’s Office.

This means that the owner of a $100,000 home here would pay $3,468 in property taxes, based on the total median tax rate for the county, while the statewide median rate would bring a $2,918 bill, for a difference of $550.

The searchable database created by the Democrat and Chronicle, which is now available online, includes county, town, city, village and school tax rates for most locations outside New York City. Homeowners can find their tax rates and distinguish between various school districts within a municipality.

On Sunday, the Democrat and Chronicle will take an in-depth look at the issue of skyrocketing property taxes and the initiatives proposed by elected officials.
