FISA expires, Senate looks to House for a spine

Good. Break the law - Get sued, lose millions. Put another way - lie with dogs get up with fleas.

By now, you know the story. These private companies accede to the government’s wishes, even though the government is fully capable of getting a warrant. Now, Not all of these private companies do exactly what the government tells them - looking for a warrant and all - in fact, a few tell them politely to stuff it. Well, guess what? - citizens find out. People sue these companies and the government tries to pass a RETROACTIVE immunity provision.

Message here? Companies do the wrong thing - its OK, because if you do the right thing it may cost you business.

I’ve posted before about how the Republicans use the Senate to obstruct the Democrats. Even our not so beloved Randy Kuhl plays in that game.

Well, it looks like the Dems have also learned how to play, to ensure that failed or poor policies by President Bush are not continued, by tossing issues to the House.

I’m not holding my breath that the Democrats in Congress have learned and can retain this skill to actually stand up to the White House. I suppose we will see on the next controversial issue.

Meanwhile this is a good thing.

The Dems have been reading from a new book called, “The Art of Growing a Set” by Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi.
