Maggs-Daniel Boone, you ain’t

A reader alerted me to this LTE from the D&C today:

Rochester-area Democrats in the state Assembly, led by David Gantt, D-Rochester, have refused to meet with Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks. Area Democrats have been nursing wounds since Brooks pushed through her “F.A.I.R.” budget plan, seemingly without Democratic support. Currently, Democrats are upset with the way local Republicans in the County Legislature are handling the search for the new public defender. Both Tuesday and Wednesday last week, area Assembly Democrats avoided Brooks while she was in Albany attempting to lobby for state aid for local projects. Brooks claimed to be “baffled” and said that Gantt is practicing the “type of politics that people are sick of.” (”Assembly Democrats snub Brooks at state Capitol,” Jan. 30 and “Gantt shuts out Brooks — again,” Jan. 31). As a county resident, I’m certainly “baffled” by the partisan attitude of local politics “…that people are sick of” (quoting Brooks). We should all, Democrats and Republicans, embrace the “… collaborative spirit … in the community,” that Brooks is apparently pioneering. So let’s get to it.

Saggie Brooks, collaborative? Saggie Brooks, a pioneer? I think not.

Kinda funny everybody gives Bush a hard time for not meeting with the tyrants running Syria, Iran and North Korea, but these democrats won’t even meet with the Monroe County executive.

She’s hasn’t acted like the consumate professional one would consider an “executive” to be. She’s acted more like a cheap trollop operating at the whim and will of her “super pimp” Steve-Oh and makes me want to puke.

She destroyed her political career. She’ll never be re-elected anywhere ever again. What a price to pay. She best get used to not being the darling darling of the Monroe County Bully Pulpit anymore.

Didn’t anyone tell her Pataki isn’t in charge anymore? Now she has to EARN the respect she wants - it doesn’t come in a big fat lard can like Crisco anymore.

She’s lucky they let her into Albany county. I hear they have rules against her type there.

Face it Elmer - she sucked as a “broad” caster, and she sucks now. Put that in your peace pipe and smoke it.

The “broad” thing wasn’t necessary.

Sorry - but as the recipient of a 6+ percent increase in my school taxes, and an approximately 4% increase in my property taxes due to reassessment - I stand by my comments, and I’d like my 10% back please. Now.

I think she’s a deplorable corrupt politican too, but, not re-electable? Seriously?

She just ran unopposed. She has the largest war-chest of any county executive now, much less when she’ll need it. Fighting democrats only makes her more beloved. Remember when she threatened to close our libraries. Liberals were writing how it was so absurd it would surely be her demise. And yet the right fawned over her

Liberals may hate her, but she is still the darling of the monied interests and Christian right in Monroe County.

Sun-Tze warned in ‘The Art of War’ the biggest mistake one can make is to underestimate one’s enemy.

Liberals are proficient at just that. And this is one reason they have become so adept at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

She’s term limited. When this 2nd one finishes, and the unFAIR plan robs the community, the third will not be her victory, and she’ll be hard pressed to find a hole to hide in with a Democratic Majority in the State and Fed.

I’m betting you 50 cents and a cold one come her next election Publius.

“with a Democratic Majority in the State and Fed.”
Sounds more like wishful thinking than anything else.

If its McCain v Hillary not only will the liberals be boo-hooing another presidential loss but Nancy will be going back to her seat on the floor from the backlash.

And with Robach’s $250,000 war-chest and right wing support in Greece, dreams of a democrat unseating him are just that. Dollinger maybe, Frankel scares people in Greece more than Hillary scares a Republican in Alabama.

Good luck, but Spitzer hasn’t exactly swayed the middle. Fears of an all liberal New York will keep the senate red.

Kinda funny, people criticizing Gantt and others for not meeting with Maggie when her party, run by the same guy who runs her administration, won’t even meet with Democrats when creating policy like the FAIR plan. What’s good for the goose?

I wonder what that letter writer is smoking, and whether he can get it in any kind of quantity…it’s difficult to imagine that any thinking, reasonable people really still believe that she is being collaborative.

Actually, Jiminy, I disagree - if the “broad” comment was because she’s a woman (and maybe there’s an interpretation I’m missing) does that mean that it’s okay to be sexist if you don’t like the person? Or if you disagree with them? Is it okay to be racist then too?
