Powerful words from the D&C about Ren Square
Check out the Editorial by the D&C about Ren Square.
Something that opens with,
The stuttering Ren Square project is wrapped in secrecy
can’t be too far off when it comes to discussion about Ren Square. It goes on to discuss; little to no public input, consistent redesign, closed door meetings, lack of openness, LDCs, and money left on the table. This editorial has it all and is worth the read.
I was surprised these words (the ones I bolded) actually made it into the Editorial. Sounds like something we would write.
The county’s contention is that the studies were drafts and not “ready” for public consumption. That’s consistent with County Executive Maggie Brooks’ whole approach to public outreach: We’ll tell you when we want to.
Yeah, we’ll tell you when we want to. Um, like the unFAIR plan? The budget process, the Public Defender selection process, COMIDA awards aka Wellesley Inn? The list simply goes on -
Seems secrecy like this goes well beyond just the local GOP face -Maggie Brooks.
So D&C editors - excellent editorial. Welcome to the party. Hope you can stay and continue to point these things out, rather than simply eating and running.

It’s interesting to read the StoryChat comments for both the Editorial as well as Maggie Minarik’s OpEd.
The comments are universally negative about this project, from progressives that dislike the business-as-usual lack of transparency, and conservatives who don’t want to spend the money. They call this “Maggie’s Fast Ferry”
It’s at times like these that I wish the MCDC could afford to send out Kuhl-like mailers, outlining all of the wonderful things Maggie has done for (to) us lately.
it is amazing…the silence from the Democrats. There should be news conferences, demonstrations, investigative research, comments from political leaders, Op-Ed comments in the D&C…etc. This is a massive mangled mistake by Maggie Brooks…yet there is barely a whisper from the democratic leadership! This project is going forward because the media and the Democrats…even Corporate Conservative leaders are allowing her to do so! Maggie Brooks is at fault….but also the community for allowing her!
