It’s a great time to follow the Republican primary - if you are a Democrat
I ran into someone today I haven’t seen in a while. One of my hard core conservative friends. He’s very engaged. I say that because he is an informed person. Sure, he listens to all the wrong sources (lol) but my point here is, he is attempting to be informed.
Not missing an opportunity (remember, I’m the one who got a bartender to register to vote) - I asked -who he was pulling the lever for in February?
Here is the conversation as I remember it:
He is upset with all of them. To the point where he is staying home on Feb 5th. I was stunned. So, I go down the list.
What about Mitt, I ask? Can’t stand him, he says and immediately points out it isn’t about him being a Mormon. At least not for him (implying for others it is a problem). Nope, the guy is fake, a phony.
How about McCain? I speculate he might have a liking for McCain. Are you kidding me, he says? The guy is a traitor to his county. Yes the word traitor was used. Largely over McCain’s immigration policies.
OK - I’m thinking - what about Mr 9-11, so I ask, what about Rudy? Per my buddy - he is a bigger phony than Mitt. He says, Geez, if you are going to run as a Republican you have to be anti-abortion. Rudy doesn’t even pretend. Rudy isn’t anti-abortion, so Rudy isn’t his guy.
OK - what about Huckabee? He said he looked closely at Huckabee and Huck didn’t feel right.
I stopped there. I have to say there was spew and vitrol that came out at the mention of Mitt, McCain and Rudy.
So this guy is staying home.
