COMIDA meeting - packing the house

(Bumped: Don't forget to see how these quasi government agencies work.)

You have heard or read various accounts about COMIDA on rochesterturning. Just do a search on COMIDA. Most recently the Town of Brighton’s attempts to recover COMDIA benefits the Wellesley Inn. The Wellesley Inn who received benefits but who failed to met the basic COMIDA requirements.

So time to pack the next COMIDA meeting

COMIDA Board Meeting
Tuesday, January 15
11:30am
47 South Fitzhugh Street, downtown Rochester

Metro Justice and others are organizing a citizen involvement activity to pack the COMIDA meeting to bring attention to COMIDA and LDCs in general.

See COMDIA problems and lack of oversight is more than just the Wellesley Inn.

  • a Contractor working for Wegmans is bringing in non-local labor (um, don’t we have local labor here in Rochester?)
  • LDCs being created for buying tax liens from Monroe County.
  • And don’t forget Ren Square is run by an LDC. How is that going anyway .

Jon Greenbaum at Metro Justice wrote about these things and more so click over and have a look.

Then clear your lunch schedule and see you next Tuesday.

See how an quasi-government agency allocates your tax dollars bring in new jobs to the area and ends up hiring allowing non-local labor to be hired because of lack of aggressive oversight. Or see how we end up supporting local retail business’ like hotels and dentists or health clubs. Business’ that would be here ANYWAY. Or see how business’ subsidize their competition via COMDIA grants. Yes - if one local retail business (like a hotel or dentist or health club) gets a grant - who do you think ultimately funds it? tax payers - who are tax payers? Individuals and business owners.
