Sub-Standard goes deeper into the tank

It’s no secret that the Syracuse Post-Standard loves Jim Walsh. In fact, they let him write his own article about his trip to Iraq, a practice frowned upon at more reputable newspapers (I doubt the Democrat and Chronicle would ever do this, not even for Joe Robach). Here’s their latest bit of pro-Walsh shillery: their political blog has a piece trashing 527 groups in which they single out 527 groups that support Maffei. I find this rather remarkable, given that the National Republican Congressional Committee made borderline illegal robocalls on Walsh’s behalf in the last election.

What makes this even more troubling is that the post is extremely similar to a post in a viciously anti-Maffei site that is allegedly maintained by Walsh staffers.

Look, guys, I know Jim Walsh makes a big show about bringing home the bacon and that he claims to have single-handedly resolved the centuries-old dispute between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland, but you’re supposed to be journalists. You already got caught with your hand in the cookie jar once, do you really think it’s a good idea to let Walsh staffers ghostwrite articles for your political blog?
