In case you missed it…
Welcome to the Whoa, Not so fast edition…
Let’s see - A what was going on last week? A couple of things:
New Hampshire. It seemed that Obama was anointed by media and pundits following his victory in Iowa, because of a dominating double digit lead in the polls going into New Hampshire. We saw Clinton shut out in Dixfield notch and watched as the rest of New Hampshire voters speak. We offered some first hand reports and, of course, ladkiddo’s dispatches and dispatch’s (with pics) from the front. In the end, Clinton pulled out a victory and now there are three. The best part of about Clintons’ victory? The record number of voters actually mattered, not the pundits or media story line.
COMIDA. Like a bad penny, COMIDA continues to make the news. The town of Brighton is looking to recover the tax revenue COMIDA misdirected. Metro Justice and others simply want public accountability and are packing the house at the next COMIDA meeting (TUESDAY, JAN 15, 11:30). We are told that there are long term COMIDA grants going to the Medley Center - and how is that working out exactly? We are also told that COMIDA is cosponsoring a loan to the Harley school? How much is that going to cost tax payers?
Randy Kuhl. You know how Bob’s Country Bunker only has two kinds of music? Country and Western? There are two versions of Randy Kuhl, Rubberstamp or Roadblock. Randy offers the latest hypocritical GOP talking posts about Congress, yet upon further review, he and his party are the ones obstructing progress in Congress. We dissect his talking points (Well, that would assume he thought them up himself - No, they are the GOP talking points). Or you can have a look at the latest Randy mailer. It looks nice, but, of course, is deceptive. Can’t wait until the town hall meetings.
Public Defender - Zyra takes a pause as community leaders push for a non-political selection. They held a meeting and here is what happened. Again - why is this a political process?
Short takes - No voter fraud in Victor. Your taxes are going up , Spitzer speaks, A City News readers’ global warming math does not add up, Siemens is back in the news not in a good way, and John Durso is heading back to Long Island. Maybe he was pissed he wasn’t one of those insiders bidding on Tax Liens - anyway thanks for the memories.
Finally - anyone out there want to know more about taxes and a system that doesn’t work the way it should ? If so, read this book by David Cay Johnson I just got it in the mail and look forward to starting it.
See you next week…
