Some early reports from NH

Hi, all, I’m in sunny San Diego today (acutally it’s colder here today than it was in Rochester yesterday) but have been scouring the web for reports about what’s going on in NH today. We love on-the-ground reports, as you may know, and we found this one on Talking Points Memo:

My wife and I are NH residents and registered independents (or undeclared as the state calls it) and went to vote at 7am in Nashua. There was no line per-say, but there was a lot of activity. People going in and out…exit pollster (complete with media logos) handing out clipboards with surveys…Obama and Hillary supporters with signs at the school parking lot entrance. There were lots of Edwards signs out on the street. The only evidence of republicans was a single Ron Paul sign across the street.

When I want to pick up my ballot, I saw a lot of names in the book with “UND” crossed out and “DEM” written in its place. Anecdotally, this indicated a lot of independents breaking for the dems, probably for Obama. McCain just held a big rally here yesterday, but there was no evidence of it now.

Just thought you might want this piece of info.

Update. More from our own reader G in the comments:

As I stated a while back, I recently moved from ROC to New Hampshire and its a circus here for sure today. Even in the small town where I work the corners are mobbed by people with signs for all the major/fringe candidates.

I’ll likely be voting tonight…you can register at the polling places here before you vote, so I’ll take advantage of that. As of right now, I’m hearing a lot of people talking who voted for Obama but who really knows at this point (we haven’t seen any exit poll numbers here yet).

I’ll update my comments here as we hear things.

Nothing new to report really. It looks like we won’t see any exit poll numbers until late in the afternoon or early evening. At least that’s the word we’re getting here in NH. However, if anyone out there is interested in the candidates’ energy positions, check out the following story.

One final update before I head home from work/get ready to vote myself. Word from both CNN and the local news here is that ballots are running low in a lot of the larger towns in NH. Good news or bad, we’ll see but at least it means people are taking this primary very seriously.

I saw a lot of volunteers out when I went to lunch, getting people into the polling places and supporting their candidates. We should see an exit poll result on the 5pm news here, at least that’s the word.

Hope something I’ve said was interesting to you guys, lol. Take care.
