Last night’s Republican debate

Via TPM, here’s a fascinating clip of a Republican focus group that thought Mitt Romney killed in last night’s debate. Granted, the people in this focus group make the crowd over at the D&C Chili blog look like a Nobel Prize committee, but there’s no reason to think they’re not representative of New Hampshire Republicans. Take a look and see how the other half lives (I almost said “thinks” but that wouldn’t really be appropriate here).

I wonder how scientifically accurate a focus group professional might believe a group answering questions as a group, in public and in front of a TV camera might be. My favorite moment of the telecast is when the moderator asks if they think any of them can win. There is a long and uncomfortable silence as noone seems to believe that any of the GOP candidates can in fact win. Only when they are prompted by the question, “can Romney win,” do they understand what the correct answer they are supposed to give to the camera, and several people express the belief that he can. A real hoot!

Yes, that was a funny moment.
