Upcoming documentary on Florida recount
It’s easy to become so overwhelmed by the horrors of the George W. Bush administration that one forgets the series of events that led to his becoming president in the first place. I’m refering to the Florida recounty, the hanging chads, the Brooks Brothers riot, and the disgraceful decision made by Scalia et al.
Fortunately, there’s an HBO documentary coming out on it soon. It sounds very interesting, though I suspect it, like pretty much everything our media produces, will lean towards the Republican view of things, though this is promising, at least:
As might be expected, then-Florida secretary of state Katherine Harris (portrayed by actress Laura Dern) comes across as the most buffoonish in an early screenplay draft.
I believe that the Florida recount was one of the most important and most poorly understood events in American political history. If you have HBO, keep an eye out for it…and make me a tape if you think of it!
