D&C does LDCs
The Democrat and Chronicle has a good editorial today about LDC (local development corporations) reform:
Though created by local governments, LDCs aren’t subject to the same laws as other governments.
The center found, for instance, that the finances of LDCs weren’t made readily available to the public. Some LDCs file reports with the Internal Revenue Service, while others don’t.
Consider, too, that LDCs aren’t required to provide public notice of their meetings. They’re also not required to follow purchasing laws applicable to other governmental entities.
Update: I should have added in this excerpt as well
There are enough questions lingering about the Renaissance Square project, for example, without having to worry about the Main and Clinton LDC operating even further off the public radar screen.
To get the LDC reform ball rolling, Sen. Joe Robach, a supporter of reform in Albany, should sign on to a bill by Assemblyman Richard Brodsky of Westchester County that would require greater LDC accountability.

Oh, Isn’t an LDC a centerpoint of the Ren Square project?
i thought the d and c article, as, opposed to the editorial, wasn’t very hard hitting
