Merry Christmas from Mikey
This just seems to fly in the face of reason, or of separation of church and state. I mentioned before that this guy was gonna be a Right-wing Christian Coalition wing-nut. When will the madness end?

I agree, but I think the flap I saw on TV about the bookcase in the background looking like a cross is silly and takes away from the real problem with the ad.
You’re right. The real problem with this ad is that we have a “serious” candidate for president who is trying to shove Christianity down the throats of voting Americans. Using religion to gain votes. Our founding fathers would role over in their graves, as would JC.
Huckabee doesn’t scare me because he is a conservative Christian (although that is scary enough in and of itself) he really frightens me because he is another Republican talking as though he is “compassionate” when in reality he is the same as all other reactionary neo-cons out to reshape the world into a playground for unregulated corporatism. Oh yeah and I am sure he’ll slam gays, Arabs, side with Israel’s Apartheid program - and cut taxes for the top 5%, and cut services for the rest of us….and continue the occupation of Iraq
Chad:
You left out that he hates children.
Not children, but I’ve heard his family has issues with stray dogs.
I’m sure you’re right, and he’ll do it all in accordance with scripture.
I am a Christian conservative, but am supporting Ron Paul. As far as the founding fathers rolling over in their graves, they must have changed since their deaths, because they were always quoting scripture when they were alive.
By gosh, You’re right! But I still think the separation of church and state was done by our founding fathers for a reason. I am not a Christian conservative and will not be voting for Ron Paul.
I’m in agreement with Chad. Mostly Republicans, but also many Democrats, are using faith to promote their candidacies. They are hiding behind fake populism and authoritarianism to attract the less “educated” or overly religious.
Natasha - sounding somewhat elitist -
ladkiddo - I think too many people look on the separation of church from state as the exclusion of church from state
Elmer-Which is as it should be. The two do not mix, politicians can practice whatever religion (or not) that they want. I don’t want to know what it is. I only want to know that a person has the ability to govern. I only want to know that their loyalties rest with the betterment of the nation (village, town, city, county, world). Who and how they worship is of no consequence and should be kept to themselves, as is their sexuality. None of our business.
I notice Obama also has a Christmas ad - with his daughter saying “Merry Christmas” - and Hillary has a mildly funny one with gifts, and Rudy has a lame one.
I thought the Huckabee ad was fine.
Then they should all get the “Bill O’Reilly Christmas Patriot Award”.
