In case you missed it…
The how prepared were you for Rochester’s first winter storm edition
Shed a little sunshine on the Winter advisory today by checking out open Government web site and resulted from Project Sunshine
Meanwhile last week -
RochesterTurning does religion. Ladkiddo is ever so slightly annoyed at the bible thumping going on nationally. BTP discusses the concept of Christians getting back to the roots of progressive values. So if you are a Christian, might want to consider the concept of the Emerging Church because like Steven Colbert said at the White House Press Dinner, everyone “… has the right to their own religion, be you Hindu, Jewish or Muslim. I believe there are infinite paths to accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior. “
Oh, while you are at it, take our freaking survey.
Exile does the Presidential round up with Rudy’s not so serious Ad, GOP round up, more on polls, and the charm of Mike Gravel. You can also check out how “Green” your candidate is. Perhaps a lightbulb will go off.
The James Lawrence’s op-ed page is criticized - something easy to do when they take wishy-washy stands. Be it the Kuhl apologist op-ed, the oh, gosh Lawyers = honest mistakes when it comes to a school board video, even the stay the course with lack of Iranian Nukes (the least wishywashy of the three) . But just when you are ready to cancel your subscription and give up, Lawrence and company comes up with these gems - The Public Defender should be non-political, and Clean Money Clean elections are good and possible. STOP TEASING US JAMES - we know you can take strong stands - we like strong stands.
Opinions are important especially when Maggie/Minarik own the GOP legislature.
Mary Anna Towler at City delivers an outstanding op-ed about immigration. The op-ed and Ladkiddo’s commentary are worth a read.
It is one thing to blast an opinionless op-ed (what you get when you try to have it both ways) about the airing of an unedited video over a public access channel. Check out the debate in the comments - nothing to do with the op-ed, but very much to do with the concept of independence vs government controlled media.
In other news,
Kuhl votes for Big Oil despite a decent Energy Bill, Walsh steps on it.
Finally, December 26th marks the end of Christmas songs - December 31st marks the end of the Voice Your Choice commercials and mailings. (Please end it now). btp does a great summary - of the options.
Finally, hats off to tech support. The ranting of the RT authors threatening to move it overseas and find a more competent off-shore worker who is equally underpaid, had absolutely no effect on Tech support - nope. Apparently, the constant - yet professional - whining from our readers have now led to some new features like Comment preview. The RT authors got some new background features as well.
So - I’m pleased to announce the extension of tech support’s contract. Not in a sweetheart Siemens contract sort of way, but we aren’t making them play in the bus circle either. A heartfelt thanks
See you next week.
