Randy cares about Monroe County
In a flyer titled Addressing Monroe County Priorities, received today from Randy Kuhl, is this opening letter:
Dear friends:
It has been ten months since I was sworn in to the 110th Congress for my second term as your US Representative. This newletter’s purpose is to keep you informed on what I’ve been doing in Congress and how you can contact me.
Congress is facing several big issues this year–from reauthorizing No Child Left Behind and protecting our troops overseas to containing our growing budget deficit and improving education.
As your Representative, I need to hear from you with your thougths about how to tackle these issues. Constituent service is my top priority as your congressman. If there is ever anything I can do to be helpful, please don’t hesitate to contact me or stop by one of my offices or a town meeting in your area.
I look forward to hearing from you and serving you better in Congress!
Sincerly,
Randy Kuhl
PS It has been an honor and privilege working for you in Congress and speaking to you about your concerns and priorities. If you need more information on anything referenced in this newsletter, please send a letter or give my bath office a call at (607) 776-9142
His informative newsletter goes on to point out to us all the stellar Acts that he has had the opportunity to vote yes on including No Child Left Behind (uh, Randy, I think I would have neglected to mention that one, unfunded mandates are rarely popular and now that Maggie has taken even more revenue away from the schools, forever, you are bound to have a bit of egg on your face).
So, there you have it. Randy really does care about Monroe County. And he has given us his phone number in case we have a question, cause you can be damn sure he won’t answer any at his town hall meetings. Don’t call this week, though-he’s on vacation.
(this quality piece of literature was prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense- I especially love the photo on the front of the young, beautiful, waspy family -I bet they all have health insurance.)

What’s wrong with this flyer? He’s telling you to contact him. I applaud that.
I think most of us have seen the results of contacting Randy. Yes, I think it’s great that he wants to stay in touch with his constituency, but does he really want to engage us in conversation? Does he really care what we say? Apparently not, as evidenced by his votes on SCHIP, War Funding and NCLB. So what is the point of sending out a flyer, at the taxpayer’s expense?
“If there is ever anything I can do to be helpful, please don’t hesitate to contact me or stop by one of my offices or a town meeting in your area.”
…What’s wrong with that flyer? Stop by his office? Just don’t disagree or exercise your constitutional rights, or speak out against the war or Bush and we’ll get along just fine. Otherwise plan on some community service and jail time hippie. That’s what’s WRONG Exile.
And not for nothing, but with everything going on in this country, this world, this area…if you ask me, this is nothing more than “rubber stamp” rhetoric. There is no meat whatsoever in his handout. And for someone at a Congressional level, there should at least be something of substance.
He’s the Congresscritter - he’s the one who should have the answers - not looking for them with questions. His profile shows his weakness, lack of knowledge, and almost a fear in his words. He knows he’s going down.
I’m against these flyers going on on taxpayer expense. They are glorified campaign ads and we shouldn’t be paying for them. That includes the ones that Louise sends too.
One of my points, exactly. Thank you for articulating it so nicely.
Aren’t all of our Congresscritters allowed to produce a certain number of these at taxpayer expense and mail them for free? Isn’t that the rule right now? Hasn’t that been the rule for many years?
I would agree with Andrea and ladkiddo (with a lower case L) that I don’t think that this should be allowed. I think the rule should be changed. But as I understand things, right now there is nothing wrong with Kuhl or any other Congressvermin sending them out.
lower case L ?
well what is the first letter of ladkiddo? Looks like a lower case L to me…
Oh, it is definitely a lower case L, I was just wondering why you pointed it out.
There has to be a reason for me to write something?
I thought the main lesson we learned from the media was that there didn’t have to be a reason, fact or logical argument behind whatever gets written…
Oh sorry, I digress, this was about Kuhl, wasn’t it?
You’re right - there’s no violation at all. I just would like to see the rule changed across the board as it’s a waste of money and an unfair advantage to the incumbent.
Bottom line - RSR (Rubber Stamp Randy) has been front and center about NOT answering questions at public meetings, ARRESTING people for peaceful protest in his offices, and THREATENING to buy a gun to “protect” himself from US. He should have spent the money reflecting his real sentiment, instead of baiting some innocent victim with the lure of coming to his “bath office” (gads) or expressing an opinion about anything.
He’s nothing more than a thought bubble farmer, and him asking any of us “common folk” about our opinions is a joke. This is a campaign flyer plain and simple. He votes Bush no matter what the consequence…except that an election year is upon him, so “ABOUT FACE”.
I’m sick of the lies, and I’m sick of the arrogance. And that is everything he represents. To give him kudos for “saying” something he doesn’t mean solely to win kudos to render voter remorse cannot be allowed to slide.
Let HIM come to US. Here we are Randy…come and ask us what we THINK. Come and ASK US HERE. We’ll be more than honest with our responses.
I have written letters and e-mails to Kuhl, addressing him as Congressman John R. Kuhl, and I have stayed very polite. Sometimes, I even get a letter back from him. But yes, the letters have no impact. When a Rethuglican decides to vote for or against something, I don’t think letters or e-mails or protests or town meetings make the slightest bit of difference. They are simply for show, to let Kuhl say he is listening to the people in his district, he is open to their comments, etc. However, actions speak louder than words, and we understand clearly what Kuhl’s actions are telling us.
Save your stamps Paige. He doesn’t care, he’s never cared, he’s a joke, and time is almost up on him. The voters will give him the feedback he craves through their vote for JON POWERS FOR CONGRESS.
…I know Jon isn’t running against rrrrrrrrrrrRandy, but I’m sure someone just as talented will!
(made you look!)
That would be Eric Massa- extremely talented!
Is that who it is? ERIC MASSA? I’ve read alot about him too! Extremely talented indeed!
