Férias no Brasil. Muito quente!!

Surf’s up! Randy travels to Brazil!! Ouch, it doesn’t get any better than that, does it?
Congressman Randy Kuhl, along with 11 others will be studying Ethanol production in Brazil. Yeah, right. Could perhaps study that in OKLAHOMA, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. But, not so much. You don’t get views like the ones pictured above in Oklahoma this time of year, or probably ever.
Energy independence is on the agenda when Kuhl heads to Brazil next week with several of his Congressional colleagues. They want to find out more on how the U.S. can move toward independence from foreign oil.
He points out that Brazil has moved away from foreign oil dependency. Based on that, he calls it a “very timely trip.”
Very timely, indeed. So, Randy and the buds get to go to Brazil while 50,000 kids in his district go without health care and the tax payers foot the bill for crazy times in Rio de Janeiro. How is this being responsible with our tax dollars? And how many people are loosing their home heating fuel assistance because of Randy’s votes? Nobody asked my opinion on this trip. Was this mentioned in any of his town hall meetings, which I missed as I am one of the poor working slobs who can’t get there in the middle of a work day?

What an ass. I’m referring to Randy.
Who else is on this trip?
Here’s the link:
http://brasilia.usembassy.gov/?action=materia&id=6321&itemmenu=
It doesn’t list every one who’s going, but I’m assuming it’s 6 Dems, 6 Reps.
So, that’s what I know.
(And if anyone asks, “How can you target Randy?”
My response will be, “He’s my elected congressman.”)
Kuhl is also a member of a political party (I think you know the name) that has fought tooth and nail against any national plan to increase energy INdependence over the past decade or so. That same party has done everything it can to put money into the pockets of the energy companies and done everything it can to reduce the country’s investment in alternative energy.
I wonder if any of the members of that political party who are on this trip actually voted against energy independence measures or actually voted against measures that would increase investment in alternative energy.
1) They speak Portuguese in Brazil, not Spanish.
2) Brazil is ahead of us on the ethanol production ramp, so a case can be made for going there to study their ethanol industry and facilities. Assuming he doesn’t just play golf and eat steak (vaca) the whole trip.
Why hasn’t randy put out a press release on his trip? Bob Inglis has done so… Is randy ashamed to talk about his vacation?

1) Thanks, I did not know that-any idea how to change the title to Portuguese???
2) Sorry, you lost me with that one. send engineers, not congressmen.
Férias no Brasil. Muito quente!!
Thanks Jiminy-I shoulda knowed.
There is absolutely nothing about what Brazil is doing, from a scientific or engineering point of view, that is not known in the USA. The engineering and scientific details are not now, nor have they ever been, the impediment.
The reason the USA has not done anything to improve our energy independence is that a certain political party that rhymes with Rethuglicans have fought tooth and nail against every measure designed to wean our country off of oil.
What scares me more is that if they attacked Afghanistan and Iraq for Oil, and now they’re headed to Brazil for corn…God help Kansas when they get back.
Nice comment - but Jiminy. Kansas and all those amber waves are safe - Nebraska and the cornhuskers need to be afraid, very afraid.
In Brazil, it’s not about corn, it’s about sugar cane which is a much more efficient form of ethanol fuel. Non-the-less, there is NO reason for Perm-boy to be traveling there on my money.
Side note- has anyone been checking out this amazing audio?
I think it’s actually sugar cane they make it out of down there. And it is very efficient how they do it. But Paige is right — it’s not like Randy’s picking up any scientific or engineering info down there.

He’s the new “Jimmy Smits” of the Congressional world. Gads.
And thanks to global warming resulting in terrible droughts, Kansas may not be able to produce as much grain and Nebraska may not be able to produce as much corn, another legacy of 8 years of Republican rule.
(At least Nebraska produces some outstanding volleyball players, GO HUSKERS! seeded #2 in the NCAA volleyball tourney)
