Shout at the devil

Looks like we made Minarik angry (via the Brighton-Pittsford Post) with our coverage of the Cooper Vision phone bank scandal:

He (Minarik) added he was upset that claims of what happened were first posted on the progressive blog RochesterTurning.com and then other people ran with it.

  2. First, congrats on breaking the story. Also, it’s nice to see that the Messenger-Post papers have enough class to acknowledge the existence of blogs.

I think the Republicans would be better to just “no comment” and leave it at that. The prima facie case against them is pretty strong. Coopervision would not pull the phone bank at the last minute unless someone threatened them with something. Only the Republicans have something to gain from stopping the phone bank, and only somebody associated with COMIDA has has enough influence over Coopervision to make the threat credible.

Congrats…just as it was an honor to be on Nixon’s ‘enemies’ list in the ’70s, I can’t think of better proof that you’re doing something important here than Minarik’s disapproval.

I wonder what caused Minarik to have such a change of “heart”. I’m so used to Puppet Brooks’ mouth moving and Minarik’s words spewing out.

  6. I would say that all of the local media with the exception of the D&C has displayed class in their dealings with us.

Speaking of class, glad you italicized “prima facie”.

Way to go, RT. And what’s that quote? Oh yeah, “I don’t care what the newspapers say about me as long as they spell my name right.” Don’t tell Minarik - but the more he talks about RT, the more readers RT will get, and the more folks will get the real story of what’s been going on in this town for way too long. Do you think it will be possible to get the two names linked so much that whenever someone googles something related to Minarik, Rochester Turning will be the first site they find? Wouldn’t that be fun?

Re: Family court Race. You are overlooking the fact that Nesser had cons. and ind. lines while Farber had only WF line. Nesser drew almost 8000 on conv line and 5500 on Ind. line while Farber drew only 4500 on WF line. Farber actually beat nesser Dem to Repub. by 4k. What killed race for Farber was 11th hour deceitful ads and very low turnout in the city where he needed strong Dem plurality. this race wasn’t lost on personality.

  10. It’s always good to know that guys like Minarik are reading (or at least know) about you and your work. That puts them on edge. I’ve noticed this in Orleans County. I’ve posted a ton of info online and others have chimed in and contributed a lot about Orleans County and these guys are downright defensive.

    Keep Minarik against the ropes.

Oh gosh…I hope he isn’t even more upset that we contacted the DA and the NYS AG and emailed just about everyone else we could think of about this story.

I think comment is in the wrong place but many things played a factor. The low turnout hwout - look at the DA race?

the attack ads certainly played a roll and finally - I still say there was a split base. Dems I know either skipped the race or voted Nesser.

It’s interesting how there is no outright denial that Maggie, her people, or lawyers directed by Republicans did this. Instead, it’s just the “we don’t know anything about it” response.
