DOJ to force New York to change voting machines

We’ve been getting some tips from readers about this, but I’m traveling and too busy to write about it myself, so I’ll just turn it over to Rottenchester:

…it looked like New York had wisely decided to stick with its proven, blessedly analog voting machines for the near future. The US Department of Justice wants none of that, however, and is going to court to force New York to use digital voting machines next year. New York has two weeks to file its response to the DOJ’s motion in federal court.

The chaos of fast-tracking an electronic voting system during a Presidential election year is staggering to contemplate.

What’s the hurry? Is the national G.O.P. THAT worried about their chances next year?
