Alesi and Robach among most conservative members of State Senate

Local state senators, Robach and Alesi, both received ratings of 84 from the New York State Conservative Party.  The highest rating anyone got was 88.  This places them among the ten most conservative members of the New York State senate.

Explain to me again why some people around here think of St. Joe as a “centrist”?

After the presence in the last election, and the fact that the WFP gain significantly after carrying Patrick Christopher to a 26K vote count against Brooks with a total budget of 6K, the Conservative Party is becoming incredibly insignificant. Even the so-called “Independence” Party outdid the Conservative Party line count.

By attaching themselves like a remora fish to a shark in hopes of being able to sustain themselves in the upcoming elections.

That’s called political posturing, or in their case, political preservation. You’re watching the death of the Conservative Party happen in a slow, and calculated way. That’s what they get for aligning themselves so tightly with the GOP. They didn’t really think the GOP wanted them for any other reason than to use them like a dirty shirt, did you?

“Explain to me again why some people aroud here think of St. Joe as a “centrist”?”

Because he will go to ANY event in district whether he agrees with the organization or not … then he talks a bunch of insignificant mumbo jumbo to make the APPEARANCE of being in agreement with them, but never actually saying he is. All he cares about is re-election … and appearing centrist in a district that has a higher Democratic registration than Republican, will make it more likely he is re-elected …

As an example, St. Joe, as you brilliantly call him, will sponsor gay events, gaining him the gay vote, but vote against gay issues in the Senate getting him an 84% Conservative rating.

Lest we forget that Joe is pro-gun and anti-choice. Even when he was a Democrat he was Mr. Conservative. He says he’s Mr. Family values, but he cheats on his wife. He has to make friends in the Liberal and Centrist communities because he represents Brighton and the City, but I hear Dollinger is going to run against him. He’ll never get away with calling himself a centrist then. Go Rick!!

I don’t think Joe has been officially cannonized yet, which is good, he’s not long for the political scene. It’s time to tuck your little tail between your legs and go home now Joe.

“Saint Joe” is certainly no saint, if you believe certain rumors floating around town about some unsavory recent activities in his personal life. The media in this town being the patsies they are, it’ll probably never make the papers…but if you hear Joe announce he’s not running again next year “for family reasons,” well…

Uhhh - because he’s from here? Everyone knows, extremists are from somewhere else.

OR, “He may be an extremist, but he’s OUR extremist.” Not so much different from the way people in the Southern Tier think about town drunks.

I cast as many of my votes as possible on the Working Families line because they had a county executive candidate :)

Robach has tried hard to project the image of a centrist. Apparently the media has allowed him to get away with it. How about having Dollinger run against Robach? Dollinger would be able to expose him for what he is a hard line conservative.

I guess that comment was good enough to say twice …. I would imagine SOMEONE with name recognition will run against him ….

I heard that Robach will step aside, and that Auburger, Supervisor of Greece will run for his seat. This makes sense, since Auburger is term limited, and Joe is…well term limited by his personal life.

That’s the rumor on the street. Also watch for the phoenix to rise in East Rochester. Bonacchi is rumored to be pitted against DAVID KOON in some sort of get-back for Koon’s son taking the seat from Bonacchi this week.

Such a tangled web…

Auberger is not term limited, but I also heard he is not running again in 2009.

Do you think Bonacchi wants to try against another Koon?????

AUBERGER IS TERM LIMITED.

As for Bonacchi, yes, he’ll take the father for the son. In a heartbeat. His ego won’t allow for it any other way.

I guess a rose by any other name… I hope Dollinger runs because if Rick is the opponent, Joe will NEVER get away with calling himself a centrist. Rick are you listening? WE NEED YOU!

There is no need to yell …. the last I knew, the town board is limited to five 2-year terms and the Supervisor serves 4 years terms and is not term limited. This was passed by the board a about 8 years ago. Have the Supervisors terms been changed since then?
