Live from Dem HQ -
Update 6
OK - it is closing down down as people are leaving the building. Patrick Christopher took 25% of the vote against Brooks. Interesting as, per Minarik, he wasn’t even a “real” candidate. Not bad at all. (Note: the WFP has only 1k voters in Monroe County– Christopher got 25k votes. Imagine what we’d have if a Dem candidate ran).
So, was it a success tonight? Sure - the Dems made significant and dramatic changes in the towns. Brighton was a lock but Mendon, Irondequoit, Chili, ER, Clarkson, and Fairport.
2 of 3 needed legislators to flip the Legislature. For those keeping score at home - that is a 15-14 split. the next question is, who in the Republican camp will flip back to the Democrats? I mean, all of a sudden, there is a lot of sway in a Republican land. I’m told, or more specifically, my sources say that there is a lot of dissatisfaction with Minarik and his iron hand rule.
So what is it going to take to bring over a Republican back to the Democratic side of the aisle? I suppose we will wait and see.
One thing for sure - Minarik is not waiting - Oh to see the pressure applied to his lockstep legislators. More importantly to see if they have the sense to say - “Steve, piss off, I can find a home somewhere else. I dont’ need you.”
We will see.
Stlo7 out.
Update - 5
Morelle showed appreciation to the Working Family party with taking the Beebe/Diraddio race. Beebe, however, said they helped make the difference. They dropped 25K into Greece and a full time canvass and organizers. I didn’t catch the rest but very cool and they put a lot of effort and it paid off.
Of course I suppose it helps if you live in the district and are not anchored down by Maggie’s unF.A.I.R. plan which raises taxes in Greece. Every little bit helps. There this great local blog but you already know the rest.
Update 4
So the towns are doing exceptionally well. ER Mayor Koon. Mendon Town board. Irondequoit, Chili Supervisor. It is a good night for the town races.
Mike Green gets reelected as well. No kidding
Irondequoit turns blue. Heyman has help on the town board.
Update 3
So goes Brighton goes the Chili supervisor. Meet David Dunning. The New Chili Democratic Supervisor.
Update 2
Frankel is speaking - Brighton stays Democratic
Update 1
Morelle is speaking starting the thanks and introductions- Quoting Minarik that the Dems are a party bereft of ideas. Yo Steve, how is that mailer working for you?
He just introduced the Rochester School board. Looks like the Dems won (no surprise) including Willa Powell. Another person not endorsed by the D&C.
Ok folks here we go - Exile has been posting results - I’ll post some Pics and see where this takes us.
Initial
First off - Meet the new County Legislator for the 6th LD.
Dick Beebe. Voters, unlike the Democrat and Chronicle, figured he deserved to be elected.

Minarik’s going on. “We reelected our county executive with the greatest margin of victory in the history of Monroe County.” Shouldn’t Morelle be claiming credit for that?
And Minarik just thanked Elliot Spitzer. Actually, I think he got that right.
Maggie’s saying the special interest groups came in here from Albany to tell us what’s good for our community. Then she’s boosting FAIR. Maybe some day they’ll get it. Probably not. Don’t tell them - They didn’t increase their margin or even hold it.
Thanks for doing this, Stlo7, Louis.
As always, great job Stlo7
Thanks to all of you who contribute to and run this site! Nice not to spend elections alone (my spouse has minimal interest).
