Hey big spender

Maggie Brooks ran one of the most expensive local election campaigns in the entire state. Here’s the list of the top ten (from NYPirg via Joe Spector):

Jim Keane, Erie County Executive, D, $1,292,513.01
Phil Amicone, Yonkers Mayor, R, $886,749.13
Maggie Brooks, Monroe County Executive, R, $763,875.91
Paul Clark, Erie County Executive, I, $759,308
Chris Collins, Erie County Executive, R, $676,652.37
Ernie Davis, Mt. Vernon Mayor, D, $482,452
William Magnarelli, Onondaga County Executive, D, $388,405.65
Dan Donovan, Staten Island District Attorney, R, $343,717.66
Bill O’Loughlin, Erie County Clerk, R, $330,987.69
Bill Steinhaus, Dutchess County Executive, R, $326,952.46

It’s a real rogue’s gallery of screwed up counties here, dominanted by Monroe, Erie (which has an even lower bond rating than Monroe County does — you can read about Republican former county exec Joel Giambra’s disastrous tenure here), and Duchess (whose former GOP chair spent 2 years in jail). I assure you that this is not a coincidence.

Those Brooks expenditures are from the time period of 7/11/06 through 10/22/07…this is the link

…and check out the amount of money Minarik has been paid by the campaign, just in that time period it’s more than $100,000 by my calculation…absurd
