Fair Campaign Practices Committee Rules Against Racist GOP Flyer

From the D&C Political Blog:

County Legislator and former County Democratic Party chair Ted O’Brien tells me that he just finished sucessfully prosecuting a case at the Fair Campaign Practices Committee about the “driver’s licenses for terrorists” flyers being mailed by the Monroe County Republican Party.

O’Brien, who by the way voted with the GOP against a plan by Gov. Spitzer to allow illegal immigrants to obtain licenses, says ” the committee ruled that not only was the piece unfair in my own specific case, but that the piece was unfair in its broader application in other districts.”
That’s great news.
Such a serious breach must not go unpunished. Now that the committee has done its job, the rest is up to voters. They must send a message that there is no place for dirty tricks in Monroe County campaigns.

Amen to that.
